About the PDF to Word tool
A PDF is designed to be read, not edited. When you receive a contract, a resume or a report as a PDF and need to change a paragraph, fix a typo or reuse a table, the quickest route is to turn it into a Word document. This tool converts your PDF into an editable .docx file that you can open in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or any other word processor.
The converter reads the text, headings, lists and tables in your PDF and rebuilds them as Word content, keeping the original layout as closely as possible. You do not need to create an account, and you do not need to install any software.
How to use it
- Click Choose file and select the PDF you want to convert.
- Press Convert PDF to Word and wait while the file is processed.
- When the conversion finishes, download the .docx file and open it in your word processor.
- Review the document, especially tables and special fonts, before sending or publishing it.
Common uses
- Editing a resume or cover letter that you only have as a PDF
- Updating prices, dates or names in an old quotation or invoice
- Copying tables from a report into a document or spreadsheet
- Reusing content from a brochure, syllabus or study material
- Translating or proofreading a document in your preferred editor
Tips for best results
- Text-based PDFs convert best. If your PDF is a scan or a photograph of a page, the text is stored as an image and may not become editable.
- Complex layouts with many columns, text boxes or unusual fonts may shift slightly. A quick review after conversion is always recommended.
- If the PDF is very large, compress it first using our PDF Shrink tool to speed up processing.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before conversion.

Frequently asked questions
Is the PDF to Word converter free?
Yes. You can convert files without paying and without registering an account.
Will the formatting stay the same?
The tool tries to preserve headings, paragraphs, lists and tables. Highly designed documents may need minor manual adjustments.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Scanned PDFs contain images rather than real text, so the result may not be editable. Text-based PDFs give the best results.
Are my files stored?
Files are processed for the requested conversion only. We do not intend to keep them after processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.
